Antalya Nightlife: Best Bars, Beach Clubs & Areas

Antalya's nightlife runs from candlelit dinners in a Roman old town to giant beach clubs and Alanya's famous bar street, with something for every kind of evening. Whether you want a quiet cocktail with a harbour view, a big night out dancing, or a family-friendly evening of shows and strolls, here is a guide to going out in Antalya, area by area, plus a few honest tips on staying safe and getting home.

Kaleiçi old town and the Old Harbour

For most visitors the loveliest evenings are in Kaleiçi, Antalya's walled old town, where narrow lanes are lined with restaurants, wine bars, rooftop terraces and live-music spots set in restored Ottoman houses. Down at the Old Harbour you can dine by the water and watch the boats. It is relaxed rather than raucous, perfect for a long dinner and a drink or two, and it suits couples and families as much as groups.

Konyaaltı and the beach clubs

The Konyaaltı beachfront has a string of beach clubs and bars that shift from sunbathing by day to music and cocktails by night, with the mountains as a backdrop. It is a stylish, younger scene, great for sunset drinks that roll into the evening, and easy to reach from the city by tram.

Lara and the resort scene

Around Lara and the Kundu hotel zone, much of the nightlife happens inside the big resorts, with bars, live entertainment, shows and sometimes on-site nightclubs. If you are on an all-inclusive package this is often the easiest option, and some of the mega-resorts put on impressive evening spectacles. There are also standalone venues and the famous large nightclubs in the area.

Alanya: the nightlife capital

Alanya, 125 km east, is the liveliest place on the coast after dark. Its famous bar street packs bars, clubs and music into a buzzing few hundred metres, and the town draws a younger, party-minded crowd through the summer. If a big night out is the point of your holiday, Alanya delivers it, though it is a longer transfer from the airport.

Turkish nights and shows

A popular evening for families and first-time visitors is a Turkish night, a dinner-and-show event with folk dancing, belly dancing and music, often included or sold through resorts. The theme parks and larger resorts also stage parades and shows, so there is plenty of entertainment that does not involve a late club.

Rooftop bars and sunset spots

Some of Antalya's most memorable evenings start with a sunset drink. Rooftop bars and terraces in and around Kaleiçi look out over the old town, the harbour and the sea, and the cliff-top setting of the city means many bars and restaurants have a view worth lingering over as the sun goes down behind the Beydağları mountains. A sunset drink followed by dinner in the old town is a classic Antalya night, relaxed and scenic rather than raucous.

Live music, Turkish nights and shows

Beyond bars and clubs, there is plenty of live entertainment. Old-town venues host live music from acoustic sets to bigger bands, resorts put on shows and Turkish nights with folk and belly dancing, and the theme parks and larger complexes stage parades and spectacles. This variety means a night out does not have to mean a late club, and there is something for families and for those who prefer a show and a meal to dancing until dawn.

Dress, etiquette and costs

Antalya is relaxed about dress for a night out, with smart-casual fine almost everywhere, though a few upscale venues and beach clubs lean more stylish. Away from the tourist strips and near mosques, dressing a little more modestly is respectful. Drinks are reasonably priced by Western standards in most places, but prices climb in premium clubs and beach clubs, so check before ordering. Staying safe on a night out

Antalya is a safe place to go out, and the main things to watch are the same as in any resort destination. Be wary of anyone who is very insistent about steering you to one specific bar, as the classic scam is a friendly stranger leading you to a venue with a shockingly inflated bill. Getting home after a night out

Planning how you get back is the one bit of a night out worth sorting in advance. There is no standard Uber in Antalya, so late at night you are relying on taxis, which is exactly when the meter issue is most likely. Agreeing a private transfer or a return with a driver, or using a taxi app, takes the stress out of the end of the evening, especially if your resort is a drive from the nightlife.

Beach clubs by day and night

One of the coast's signature experiences is the beach club that runs from morning to midnight. You can spend the day on a sunbed with food and drink service, then stay as the music builds, the lights come on and the same spot turns into a party by the water. Konyaaltı and the resort coasts have the best of these, and they suit groups and couples who want a seamless day-into-night without changing venue. Prices at the fancier clubs climb in the evening, so check the tariff and any minimum spend when you arrive.

What a night out costs

Antalya is generally good value for a night out by Western European standards, though it spans a wide range. A beer or a glass of wine in an old-town bar is inexpensive, cocktails a little more, while premium clubs, beach clubs and imported spirits push prices up. All-inclusive resort guests can of course drink within their package, which keeps costs down, and heading out is then more about atmosphere than saving money. Getting between the nightlife areas

The catch with Antalya's spread-out nightlife is that the best areas can be a drive apart, and the city, Lara, Konyaaltı and Alanya are not walkable from one another. Within an area you can stroll between venues, but moving between areas, or getting back to a distant resort, means a taxi or a pre-arranged ride. Since there is no standard Uber in Antalya and late-night taxis are where fare problems most often crop up, sorting your transport home before you head out is the single best thing you can do for a smooth evening.

Alcohol, licensing and local customs

Alcohol is freely available in Antalya's tourist areas, from beach bars to nightclubs, and having a drink is entirely normal in the resorts and the city's going-out districts. Turkey is a majority-Muslim country, though, so away from the tourist zones and especially near mosques, being discreet is respectful, and during the holy month of Ramadan some local venues adjust their hours even as the resorts carry on as usual. None of this restricts a normal holiday night out, but a little awareness of the local context is courteous.

As for the practicalities, most bars and clubs get going later in the evening and run late, particularly in summer, so there is no rush to head out early. Dress is relaxed almost everywhere, prices are reasonable outside the premium venues, and paying with a mix of card and a little cash covers you. From there you can keep it relaxed with another drink and some live music, or move on to a beach club or, if you are in Alanya, the bar street for something livelier.
